Try your hand at activities inspired by RRS Discovery and Verdant Works!
A blueprint (or cyanotype) is a photographic image made without the need for a camera. Before photocopying, this process was used to make copies of plans and notes, like the ones of RRS Discovery. Light sensitive chemicals are coated onto paper and exposed using the sun. In this month's workshop, artist and photographer Kit Martin will help you to create pieces of art using objects, maps and negatives, by exposing and developing coated paper to produce your own blueprints.
Things you will need:
There will be an array of materials and objects provided to use on the day, however feel free to bring materials that you would like to make prints with, for example, flowers, feathers, buttons, leaves with interesting shapes, and semi-transparent materials all work well.
